RN Plus is a community nursing service and disability support provider, based in West Lake Macquarie. The service was established in 2021 by a group of Hunter Registered Nurses who are passionate about mental health care.
Our journey began with a clear and genuine purpose — to deliver high-quality, compassionate mental health care to individuals in the community who need it most.
Since inception, we have developed a strong understanding of the NDIS and the unique challenges within sector. We continue to build on this knowledge every day, refining our approach to ensure we provide meaningful, effective support for participants with diverse and complex needs.
Overall, the introduction of the NDIS has been incredibly positive for those living with disability. However, for some, it has given way to a cycle of health relapse, placement and support breakdown and hospital re-admission. It is this cycle that ultimately diminishes quality of life and reduces independence. This is what drove us to develop a specialist service that can ensure those with complex needs remain well cared for.
All too often we have seen people caught in the middle of NDIS and the public health system – with neither providing the support needed, shifting responsibility upon one another.
Our intention – to fill the gap in reliable, responsive, and skillfully delivered community-based mental health support.
We embrace change, welcome challenges, and take pride in doing what we say we will do. We thrive in situations where consistency, communication, and creative problem-solving are essential.
Establishing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship with our clients is the reason we are so effective at what we do — it’s about presence, patience, and purpose.
Our staff have decades of experience working within the Hunter Mental Health Network and in primary health care settings. We have established connections with a range of other hunter area health services and specialist practitioners.
Most importantly, we are committed to the individual – regardless of the challenges we promise to be reliable, accountable and empathetic. There is no situation too challenging and we will never relinquish or withdraw care based on health, diagnosis or clinical presentation.

Every member of our team is registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and remain free from any restrictions or conditions – indicating that professional standards have been upheld. Registration is nationally recognised and independently regulated – this adds a level of quality assurance and accountability not seen elsewhere in disability services.
You can visit AHPRA’s website at any time to check that your practitioner is listed on the public register.
