We understand that continence is a deeply personal matter — and one that can have a significant impact on health, dignity, daily living, and quality of life. That’s why our experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist offers comprehensive continence assessments that are respectful, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

What is a Continence Assessment?

A continence assessment is a clinical evaluation that explores the underlying causes of bladder and/or bowel issues. It includes a detailed review of your medical history, current symptoms, functional abilities, support needs, and environmental factors. Our assessments help determine the most appropriate strategies, supports, and products to manage incontinence and maintain comfort, hygiene, and independence.

A standard continence assessment will take between 60-90 minutes in-person, possibly a little longer if you have complex health needs. Your CNC will then spend anywhere between 4-10 hours liaising with other health professionals, organising referrals for investigations and follow-up care, and writing a comprehensive report.

Our CNC will take into consideration your individual circumstances and continence needs to provide:

Comprehensive continence management plans tailored to your daily routine and functional capacity
In-home or community-based assessment by a qualified CNC
Product recommendations including pads, pull-ups, catheters, commodes, and assistive technologies
Ongoing support to review plans, update strategies, and ensure access to necessary NDIS funding
Education and training for carers and support workers

If your continence assessment is for NDIS:

We work closely with clients, families, support coordinators, and allied health teams to ensure continence support is aligned with your NDIS goals. Our nurses are skilled not only in clinical care, but in understanding the broader psychosocial impact of incontinence — especially for individuals with complex disability or mental health needs.

Our reports are extremely comprehensive, because we are aware of the high-standard of evidencing that NDIS requires to provide funding for supports.

We aim to reduce the burden of incontinence through early intervention, practical solutions, and compassionate care.

*Please note: Telehealth is not our preferred method of assessment, as in-person visit’s provide a more holistic picture.
