Supported Independent Living (SIL)

We provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) in Lake Macquarie and the lower Hunter region for people who need help with everyday tasks while living in a safe and supportive home. We specialise in supporting people with complex mental health needs, and our team has extensive experience working in various specialist mental health settings.

We understand how important stability and routine is for most, but largely what is important is to feel respected, and supported in one’s own home — particularly after a long history of hospital stays or difficulty maintaining housing.

Who We Support

We Work closely with people who live with:

– Severe and persistent mental health conditions

– Dual diagnoses (mental health and intellectual disability)

– Challenging behaviours or emotional regulation needs

– Psychosocial disability and trauma backgrounds

– Complex needs of any kind

Our services are particularly suited to people who need skilled, calm, and consistent support in a home environment.

What We Provide

Tailored SIL supports that can include:

– 24/7 on-site or drop-in support depending on needs

– Help with cooking, cleaning, personal care, household tasks and taking medications

– Support to attend appointments, engage in the community, and build daily routines

– Behaviour support and strategies aligned with each individual’s plan

– Collaborative care with families, support coordinators, and health professionals

We take time to get to know each person and build support around them.

We understand complex mental health — our team has worked in an array of clinical mental health settings and supported many individuals with high needs who other services don’t have the ability to manage.

Our staff are skilled, patient, and trauma-informed, and know how to build trust and create calm, predictable routines. We are flexible and responsive.

SIL Lake Macquarie and lower Hunter Region

We are based in West Lake Macquarie, although we service the wider Hunter region and Northern Central Coast suburbs. We know that everyone’s needs are different – that’s why we value the care planning process and can ensure that the support we are providing is effective.

The vaste majority of our staff are qualified, AHPRA registered RN’s or EEN’s, who can provide community nursing care for any co-morbidities including wounds, diabetes, medication management, continence etc. Community access and transport are other services offered.
